Half a Decade

Journal Entry: Sat Sep 19, 2009, 11:03 AM

Hello, friends. Today I have been a part of this site for 5 years. I haven't always been active. I even left for nearly 2 years. I had so many other responsibilities...
I came to this site as a Literary. I wrote poetry. It helped me flush out my negativity on dark days. Unfortunately, I seem to have lost the words to write as I once did. Maybe someday I can put myself back in a writing groove.
But more than a year ago I stumbled across a camera on eBay, bought it on a whim, and was instatnly obsessed with photography. And so I found my way back to dA to share my new hobby.
I hope you enjoy.
I have a wedding to go to.
Also, YARR.

So, the good news is, HughesNet came and installed a dish for high speed internet which means I can now get my intarwebs fix at home.

The bad news is that I have been fighting a bacterial sinus infection all week. I finally broke down and went to the doctor yesterday after the sinus pressure got so bad that it was affecting my ears. The buildup in my sinus cavities was putting pressure on my middle ear and causing me a whole lot of pain. The doctor really didn't tell me anything I didn't already know thanks to Web MD (Thanks, doc ) but I did get a prescription for Flonase which has helped immensely. So I do feel better. Not great, but better.

I'm also addicted to herbal teas now. I snagged a bunch of those...and also rather a lot of junk food while I was waiting for my prescription to be filled. I think it's a conspiracy...

Still no job, though. So discouraging. Any encouraging news or happenings with y'all? Throw me some positivity.

Will Work for Internets

Journal Entry: Wed Aug 26, 2009, 6:44 PM
It's been nearly three weeks since I've moved. The house is starting to take shape. Still no living room furniture, yet.

Still no intarwebs yet, either because 1: Cincinnati Bell sucks. At everything. 2: The new house is so far out into bufu that they can't run Cable out that far yet. Therefore, TV is provided by Dish and intarwebs remain unsurfed. I've been stealing internets from the library, my fiance, and one or two other unfortunate friends. That's why I haven't been able to give dA as much attention recently, though I hope to have some form of internets of my own ASAFP.

Still no career. And, as I just realized, still no diploma either. I know for a fact I've graduated (and my student loan people know it too 'cause I've started paying them back) but NKU once again sucks at everything.

That's rather a lot of negativity...give me some good news?

A Pleasant Tomorrow

Hello there!

I've been very lazy about this journal thing. I've been telling myself that I need to update, I just haven't had anything to say. I have been having a very tough time, what with looking for a job and all, and feeling very very blue recently. I'm really hoping that's about to change, though as I have a potential interview this week. And I got a haircut, which I desperately needed. And that always makes me feel better.

Yesterday evening I ventured out with my camera and partners in crime to the site of the Beverly Hills Supper Club, which burned down in the 1970's. For those of you not from the Greater Cincy area who might not be familiar with this, you can read about it here: [link]
I have always found the Beverly Hills fascinating, and this is the first time I've had the chance to visit the site.
There's virtually nothing left, and we traipsed around in the woods for about an hour or so (burning daylight, I might add) before realizing that we had walked right past it. There's a trail that leads through the site (which we only partially explored 'cause it was getting dark) that is literally scattered with debris. The trail is marked by bits of orange tape, and someone has placed hand-painted signs at key sites along the trail. There is also a memorial erected at the site of greatest casualties. It's really interesting, and we plan to go back sometime during the day.
I think I got some pretty sweet shots, but I'll have to wait and see how they turn out (that's right, kiddies, I shoot with film). And right now I'm super itchy from aforementioned woods-traipsing, but so far, no poison ivy. Let's hope it stays that way. Or at least let's hope what I shot is excellent enough to be worth it.

Also. I don't know if you've seen this, but a friend showed me this clip last night, and I was completely blown away. My mouth was literally hanging open as I watched it. Check it out: [link]
(I promise I'm not going to rickroll you ;))
